Robert Lee McComb started in the land surveying profession in the days of slide rules, mechanical calculators and trigonometry tables. He has over a hundred thousand hours of land surveying experience across the private spectrum of the discipline, chiefly in boundaries and the resolution of disputed boundaries, but also heavily in the areas of title, topography, construction and land development.

His first love is education, however; he seeks to enable the advancement of surveyors through college degree programs, and further to promote their professional licensure in advocacy of consumer need and the public good. His own experiences in professional work over time has brought him to LSACTS as a reformer. He recognizes the need to update the acts of law defining land surveyors, for starters, and in the long run, to advance the discipline and ethic of land surveying to the highest standards, including those that Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln - all recognized professional surveyors themselves - would have expected of today's profession.
